Who Am I? I have been teaching for almost 40 years and with every year there is always a new challenge. I have been a Special Education teacher for all of these years and I have never regretted that decision. This year I have been given the opportunity to teach here at North Wake College and Career Academy. This is my first year teaching in high school and now that I am here, I do not know why I did not do this many years before. I wish that every student had the opportunity to attend a school like NWCCA. This is going to be an exciting school year with lots opportunities for professional growth and watching students engaging in meaningful learning which will result in them meeting their academic goals.
What Do I Do? I am the Special Education Teacher and the Special Education Department Chairperson since I am the only Special Education Teacher at NWCCA. I am here to support any student with an IEP and make sure that all students receive the accommodations which are documented on their IEP's. This job also gives me the opportunity to meet with parents, students, and teachers on a regular basis as we make important decisions about student learning and student academic growth.
